AURORA, Ill. – Yesterday, state Rep. Chapa LaVia, D-Aurora, partnered with the Attorney General’s office to help homeowners find ways to save on mortgage payments and highlight existing legal tools at a Mortgage Relief Seminar.
“In these tough economic times in Illinois, I want to provide resources to residents that can assist with their finances,” Chapa LaVia said. “Every time I knock on doors or call constituents, their top priority is property tax relief, and so I want to provide as much financial relief as possible.”
The Attorney General’s office highlighted existing legal tools and offered assistance for attendees with any questions they have. After presentations, participants sat down one-on-one with representatives from the Attorney General’s office to discuss their individual cases. As a part of her efforts to provide finical relief to Aurora homeowners and taxpayers, Chapa LaVia also brought forward her numerous attempts to enact property tax relief, which most recently was Senate Bill 484.
“While the governor has failed to work together with us on property tax relief, even though it was his demand, I am following through on my attempts to make relief a reality for my local residents,” Chapa LaVia said. “People should know about other avenues to save their money, and events like these that analyze mortgage payments is one great way to accomplish that.”
