CICERO, Ill. – On Wednesday, state Rep. Elizabeth ‘Lisa’ Hernandez, D-Cicero, and Illinois State Comptroller Susana Mendoza hosted a Culinary Kids Healthy Hearts Luncheon for local Cicero youth at Corazon Community Services.

“I am so happy to have teamed up with Comptroller Mendoza and Corazon Community Services to bring this great event to local youth in Cicero,” Hernandez said. “The kids were not only able to learn about the benefits of healthy eating and exercising from athletes and chefs, but they were able to put those tips to use and cooked a delicious healthy lunch. I look forward to having the opportunity of making this an annual event as eating healthy today contributes to being healthy tomorrow.”

About Culinary Kids: Culinary Kids was created in Sept. 2013 to educated students in grades 3 through 12 on the importance of a healthy diet. Culinary Kids helps demonstrate how easy and fun it is to follow a healthy diet, as eating healthy today contributes to being healthy tomorrow.
