VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, is hosting a free property tax appeal workshop for Wheeling Township residents on Wednesday, August 2, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Indian Trails Public Library, located at 355 Schoenbeck Rd. in Wheeling.
“Local families often reach out to my office looking for relief from our state’s high property taxes, which are forcing families out of their homes and out of Illinois.” Sente said. “While my fight to provide families with real property tax relief through legislation that would permanently freeze and reduce property tax bills is ongoing, my hope is homeowners will take advantage of my appeal workshop to seek immediate relief.”
Property tax appeal experts from the Cook County Assessor’s Office will be present Wednesday night to help explain the residential property assessment and appeal process to residents, as well as provide one-on-one assistance for attendees who wish to appeal their property tax assessments. Sente encourages residents to bring a copy of their most recent property tax assessments, as well a valid state ID. Wheeling Township residents are eligible to file property tax assessment appeals through Monday, August 7.
