AURORA, Ill. – Yesterday, state Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia, D-Aurora, stopped by Two Brother’s Roundhouse to have coffee and conversation with local residents and to chat about state and local issues that are on peoples’ minds.

“Having recently enacted a balanced budget, people deserve to know how that is going to benefit them and their families,” Chapa LaVia said. “Small events like these offer me the opportunity to do just that. There is a lot of misinformation about what this new budget plan does, and so the best way to talk honestly and directly about it is through face-to-face conversation.”

Residents and Chapa LaVia discussed a number of state and local issues, including funding for senior care, healthcare and the current school funding situation. Chapa LaVia supported Senate Bill 1, which if signed would bring in nearly $18 million more for local schools in her district.

Individuals who were unable to attend Tuesday’s event are encouraged to reach out to Chapa LaVia’s constituent service office at 630-270-1848, or at lindachapalavia@il83dist.com, if they have any questions.
