SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, issued the following statement following the budget veto override vote:

“I am not shy about the fact that I am against an income tax increase. Working families can’t afford to pay more to clean up Bruce Rauner’s mess.  Instead, we need to start by making the millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share, closing corporate loopholes and cutting the cost of government.”

“I supported a budget deal that cuts nearly $3 billion from government bureaucracy, and that’s a good start.  The General Assembly needs to be cutting wasteful spending so we can fund essential services like breast cancer screenings, care for the elderly, and education.”

“The fact is I do not think middle-class and struggling families should be forced to pay more to clean up Bruce Rauner’s mess.  I believe millionaires and billionaires should be paying their fair share. I also think we should be focused on reducing the cost of government, and that is why I supported a budget that cuts nearly $3 billion in wasteful spending.”
