COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, is hosting an Emergency Town Hall Meeting with local community senior service providers to examine the dangerous cuts being proposed by Governor Rauner in Springfield and politicians in Washington D.C. to senior care programs. The town hall meeting will be held on Monday, July 17 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Main Street Community Center, located at 1003 N. Main St. in Edwardsville.

“The plans proposed by the governor and D.C. politicians threaten the care that many elderly residents in our community rely on to live independently and safely in their homes,” said Stuart. “The cuts that have been proposed would drastically reduce the quality of care that senior residents receive and kick thousands of elderly residents off of the programs they need to remain at home. In addition, these cuts pose a huge safety threat to seniors who would still be eligible for care by going as far as to remove regulations that require caregivers to undergo criminal background checks. This meeting will inform residents about all we can do to preserve integral funding for senior citizens in our community.”

The Town Hall Meeting is free and open to the public. For additional information, please contact Stuart’s in-district office at 618-365-6650 or by email at repkatiestuart@gmail.com.
