EVERGREEN PARK, Ill. – Nearly 100 women recently joined state Rep. Kelly Burke, D-Evergreen Park, and state Sen. Bill Cunningham, D-Chicago, at their free Women’s Self-Defense Seminar.

“It was empowering to see women of all ages learning how to better protect themselves and others,” Burke said. “While crime can happen to anyone, women in particular are often targeted by criminals and that’s what prompted me to host this self-defense seminar.”

Chicago Police Officer Cheryl Hurley led the self-defense seminar where participants learned how to escape from attackers.
