ALTON, Ill. – State Rep. Dan Beiser, D-Alton, is joining his colleagues in urging the Illinois Department of Employment Security to implement a comprehensive website aimed at helping veterans find employment.
“Veterans have made countless sacrifices to protect our nation and communities,” Beiser said. “When they finish their tour of duty, we should do everything in our power to make their transition back into civilian life easier. This starts with helping them find a job.”
Beiser’s House Resolution 389 encourages the Illinois Department of Employment Security to develop a website to connect veterans to employment resources, modeled after Missouri’s “Show Me Heroes” website. The website could include information on employers hiring veterans, job fairs and events, training opportunities and more.
“While we currently have resources aimed at helping veterans returning home, we can do a better job at listing job opportunities and making the website more accessible,” Beiser said. “This is a small change in how we share job information with veterans that will make a big impact in their lives.”
