HARRISBURG, ILL. – Following destructive flooding which brought damage throughout Southern Illinois in the past few weeks, state Rep. Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg, will be hosting a food and supplies collection drive to benefit flood victims throughout the region.
“Unfortunately, the recent flooding has caused a great deal of damage in the area, displacing many people from their homes, and causing severe damage to others,” said Phelps. “This is causing our local food pantries and relief efforts to be in extra need of food and supplies.”
Phelps is asking area residents to donate canned or nonperishable food items, new and unused full-size toiletries, baby items, cleaning supplies and paper products to help local families in need. Donations can be brought to Phelps’ constituent service office, located at 607 South Commercial Street in Harrisburg from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“I am asking folks to look into their hearts to help those in our area that are in need, and please consider making a small donation to this drive,” continued Phelps. “These donations will be kept local here in Southern Illinois and donated to anyone who needs extra supplies or assistance after being displaced.”
