CHICAGO – In an effort to protect vulnerable seniors, state Rep. Melissa Conyears-Ervin, D-Chicago, is opposing efforts by the Trump Administration to cut the Meals on Wheels Program.
“It is unacceptable that our vulnerable seniors are the target of budget cuts at the national and state level,” Conyears-Ervin said. “I strongly oppose any effort to cut the Meals on Wheels program for the seniors who depend on that service to eat.”
Conyears-Ervin in a sponsor of House Resolution 274, which opposes cuts to the Meals on Wheels program. The program provides home delivered meals to seniors throughout the state. The resolution also opposes the elimination of the Community Development Block Grant and the Community Services Block Grant.
“We must be a voice for seniors who are vulnerable and need this assistance,” Conyears-Ervin said. “I will continue to fight for them, and ensure their families have the peace of mind knowing their parents and grandparents are receiving support.”
