SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Jerry Costello, D-Smithton, sponsored a resolution in the Illinois House of Representatives to congratulate the unanimous selection of Illinois State Police Captain Timothy Tyler on receiving the Public Servant Award from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP. Tyler visited Springfield on Wednesday to see the resolution adopted by the legislature.

“Captain Tyler has been incredibly active in the metro east, both with law enforcement and volunteering countless hours as both a coach and mentor,” said Costello. “Captain Tyler was selected for the Public Servant Award unanimously, and his work is well-known in both East St. Louis and throughout the region for his experience, dedication and commitment to law enforcement and improving our community.”

House Resolution 137 honoring Tyler was adopted by the Illinois House of Representative on March 22.
