HARRISBURG, Ill. – State Representative Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg, is encouraging jobseekers in the Southern Illinois area to attend the Résumé Building Workshop that he is hosting alongside Southern Illinois University’s Career Services.
“Having an updated and concise résumé can make the difference between getting a call back from a potential employer or having to continue job searching,” said Phelps. “Even for folks not looking for a new career opportunity, having an up-to-date résumé is very important, and you never know when it might come in handy.”
Phelps’ Résumé Building Workshop will be on March 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the Harrisburg District Library, located at 2 West Walnut Street in Harrisburg. Space is limited, so an RSVP is required for attendance. Refreshments will be provided, and the event is free and open to the public.
A representative from Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Career Services will be presenting on résumé tips and helpful hints, as well as important skills to keep in mind when in the interviewing process.
“I encourage folks to come by the Résumé Building Workshop to learn how to make their résumés stand out and hear tips on how to interview more effectively,” continued Phelps.
