VILLA PARK, Ill – To better engage the community in the legislative process, state Rep. Deb Conroy, D-Villa Park, is inviting residents to join one of her Citizen Advisory Committees to provide their input on important state issues and brainstorm ideas for legislation.

“Staying accessible continues to be among my top priorities,” Conroy said. “These advisory meetings are a great way to get involved, share your concerns, and propose your solutions to the challenges we face as a community and as a state.”

Conroy’s Citizen Advisory Committees focus on Mental Health, Education, Youth, Veteran’s Affairs, and Women’s Issues. Each committee meets throughout the year to propose legislation and provide feedback on state proposals. In addition, Conroy will continue to reach out to seniors through monthly events at local senior centers and assisted living facilities.

“I encourage anyone with an interest or expertise in a particular subject area to consider joining, but anyone who wants to understand what is happening is Springfield is welcome to these meetings,” Conroy said. “We have had a lot of successes through our advisory committees and created coalitions that help fight for mental health issues and create awareness throughout the community. I look forward to engaging more residents and invite everyone to attend.”

For more information about the advisory committees, please contact Conroy’s full-time constituent services office at 630-415-3520 or RepDebConroy@gmail.com.
