newplatedesignAs of January 2017, the Secretary of State’s Office will be issuing new license plates free of cost to Illinois taxpayers. Plates that were manufactured between 2000 and 2001 will be issued replacements first. Residents will receive notifications for plate replacement by mail. Once drivers pay their 2017 registration fee, they will be issued a temporary yellow renewal sticker. Plates will then be mailed within 60 days with a permanent registration sticker for the 2017 year.

If you are not eligible for a new license plate, drivers can obtain new plates for a fee of $29 from www.cyberdriveillinois.com.
